We evaluate each litter individually after they are whelped and pricing is established shortly thereafter. Photos of our puppies will be posted only after we have determined they are 100% healthy and fit for sale. We will begin accepting deposits once the photos are posted. All JonVers puppies are sold on contract with a written health guarantee for our buyers protection. We also guarantee all puppies produced by us will never lose their eyesight to prcd-PRA in their lifetime. We are very committed to our puppies and are always open to taking one of our dogs back at any time, no matter what the age. We are here for our buyers....for life. All of our puppies are registerable with AKC (The American Kennel Club) and are sent to their new homes with a complete puppy packet. Our puppies are not given just a "first shot", but are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and worming medications. How do I reserve a puppy? We do not take deposits for puppies until after the litter has been evaluated and photos have been posted. We are very particular about the placement of our puppies and do our best to ensure they are placed in the right homes for our buyers and the puppy. All potential buyers will be asked to complete our puppy placement application in order to help us evaluate the best placement for our puppies, as well as our buyers. When can I pick up my puppy? We are not in a hurry for our puppies to leave our care. We have found that ACD puppies do best when they have been socialized with their littermates and mother for as long as possible. We will not let our puppies begin leaving our home until they are at least 8 weeks of age. Finding a home at the earliest age possible is not our main goal, we believe in raising our puppies and focus more on finding the right homes for our babies. Can I have my puppy shipped? We can ship your puppy via airlines within the domestic United States. The shipping costs are additional. Do you dock the tails? Tails are never docked and dewclaws will remain intact as required by the breed standard. The tail is an essential element to maintaining balance when performing in herding, agility, or just playing some down-home ball or frisbee. The tail is used as a "rudder" to keep that critical balance needed to avoid potential risk of injury. Are they good with children? Many of our puppies have gone to homes where there are small children and have done exceptionally well (please see our references page). ACD's are extremely loyal, loving, intelligent and protective. As with any puppy, an ACD needs consistent training and discipline, their herding instinct will often prompt them to bring order to chaos. A group of running children may appear to be chaos to them and the puppies should be discouraged from "heeling" them. Our puppies are worked with from birth on bite inhibition. This discipline is received from their mother, the older dogs in our household, and us humans! Their focus is then diverted from whatever happened to get their attention to an acceptable "toy" or activity. This is a herding breed and the instinct to work is inherited, this is why we place such an emphasis on temperament. The mind has to be sound and stable in any breed of dog-but is so much more important for a working or herding breed. We produce puppies that mature into dogs you can live with. Abbreviated Breed Standard (For the complete breed standard click on the link provided below) OTHER COMMON NAMES: Queensland Heeler, Blue or Red Heeler ORIGIN: Australia HEIGHT: 17-20 inches at the shoulder WEIGHT: 35-50 pounds COAT: Straight, hard and medium short COLOR: Blue or red, classified as an even blue or red tick, mottle or speckle. All blues should have tan/red markings on the legs and a tan/red "bow-tie" on the chest along with some tan/red facial points. Red dogs should not have any blue on the body as this is considered a fault. A red dog with severe blue overlay should not be used for breeding. Please follow this link on coat colors for more information: http://www.ar.com.au/~norclark/acdcoat3.htm BODY: ACD's should not be a sqaure looking dog. The body length should not equal the dogs height. Correct proportion dictated by the breed standard calls for body length longer than the height of the dog, as in a 10 to 9 ratio. EYES: ACD's should always have brown eyes, never blue. REGISTRIES: AKC, ANKC, CKC (Please be careful to verify this is the Canadian Kennel Club), FCI (Group 1), KC (GB), UKC (Please be careful to verify this is the United Kennel Club) LINKS: The American Kennel Club Breed Standard & Description On a personal note: When we are purchasing anything for our family, (especially a living, breathing animal) we are just as careful as we are in placing our puppies. We only deal with those that possess honesty and integrity. We believe an honorable person is not one that feels the need to put others down, nor one that attempts to mislead. We state the facts about how we do business, not our opinions on how others should conduct theirs. Our dogs, puppies and our buyers’ references speak for themselves. |
