prcd-PRA Disease, Testing and Breeding Strategy Information

***What you should know about prcd-PRA and the late-onset blindness that can affect ACD's***

Our dogs are tested for prcd-PRA through Optigen, LLC or their agents only. We chose Optigen for our testing because they are the only company that has developed and owns the patent to test for prcd-PRA.

For more information on the breed specific strain of PRA that affects Australian Cattle Dogs please click
here.

We urge you to use these links and please do your research on testing for prcd-PRA. Tests conducted by Pawsitive ID do not test for prcd-PRA. Please click here to read their own statement.

In addition, the OFA (link below) has never recognized any testing done by Pawsitive ID for prcd-PRA.

Please look at the breeding strategies link on Optigen's site and be very careful when purchasing to verify the puppies parents are tested by Optigen for prcd. Unless the testing was done by Optigen for prcd, you may very well be receiving false information.

Simply said, if a dog is not tested by Optigen or one of their agents for prcd-PRA, the dog is not tested for prcd.
